Disney released the schedule for the biennial D23 Expo and this year’s lineup is packed with tons of fun for Disney, Marvel and Star Wars fans.

Disney might have pulled the ultimate switcheroo when it scheduled the 2017 D23 Expo the week before San Diego Comic Con. If you consider that Disney owns Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, along with Walt Disney Animation Studios, it makes perfect sense that they would want to save the big announcements for their own convention. Putting it the week before SDCC, with plenty of tickets available, gives them every opportunity to get the buzz going before SDCC even begins.

Disney just released the official schedule for D23 2017, and it’s packed with must-see panels.

The three day celebration of all things Disney kicks off with the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony at 10am on Friday. Among this year’s honorees are Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Oprah Winfrey. Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios will follow the awards ceremony at 2:30pm. This panel will feature information on upcoming projects such as the sequels to Wreck-It Ralph and The Incredibles, as well as the brand new film Coco.

There are two main panels on Saturday, and they’re big. Really big. The first is Walt Disney Studios Live-Action Films, which will cover Disney live action films as well as previews of upcoming Marvel and Lucasfilm films. It’s quite possible (read: very likely) that fans will get exclusive looks at the big films of 2018. The other big panel on Saturday is the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts presentation. In 2015, this is where we learned about the Star Wars Land and Avatar expansions at Disneyland and Disney World. This year’s update is expected to reveal details about plans for a Marvel Land expansion in Disney California Adventure.

D23 wraps up Sunday with a celebration of Alan Menken, the man behind so many classic Disney songs. Menken will be there to perform some of those songs in his all-new one man show.

D23 is a great opportunity for Disney fans to get the latest information about current projects. It doesn’t hurt that it takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center, which is right next door to Disneyland.

D23 takes place June 14-16 in Anaheim, California.
