Arrow Season 5, Episode 20 Synopsis: “Underneath”

This week on Arrow, Oliver and Felicity are trapped in the bunker after Chase’s attack.

Last week on Arrow‘s “Dangerous Liasons” episode, the team scrambled to find Adrian Chase—now on the run after being exposed as Prometheus. And Felicity compromised her morals to gain the tech necessary to hunt him down.

It seems that Oliver and Felicity are on completely opposite paths now. As Ollie comes back from the dark side, Felicity ventures further into it. When the team moves in on Chase, they discover that he set a trap—almost killing Team Arrow and the assisting SCPD SWAT team.

As the team grows desperate, Felicity learns Helix has tech that can trace the unique heartbeat of anyone in the world. They offer a Faustian bargain to Felicity: help them free Cayden James, a dangerous hacker that ARGUS is holding prisoner at a black site, and she’ll get the device.

Felicity agrees and is soon pulled into helping Helix rob ARGUS of two keys that allow access to James. Lyla asks Team Arrow for help in protecting the prison, but they soon learn that the leader of ARGUS wasn’t being completely honest—James was being held somewhere else.

This little lie would cost them, as Helix already figured out James’s true location. By the time Team Arrow got there, Helix had already successfully freed their comrade.

Because of Felicity’s association with Team Arrow, Helix leader Alena felt it was best they parted ways. But a deal’s a deal, and Alena gave Felicity a parting gift—the device that can find Chase. As Felicity and Oliver activate the device, they discover that Chase is currently at their location. A bomb explodes before they can act.

This week, a trapped Oliver and Felicity try to find a way out of their deadly predicament. And John confronts Lyla about her questionable ARGUS activities. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:

“Underneath”

"Things get intense when Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) are trapped in the bunker together. Meanwhile, Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Andreson) and Diggle (David Ramsey) deal with their marital issues."
