A new promo for Marvel’s The Defenders teases the return of Elektra Natchios.

Elektra Natchios was one of the highlights of Daredevil Season 2 (who are we kidding here? The series is one giant highlight!). She exploded onto the scene as a mysterious woman from Matt’s past. Her involvement with Stick and his mission would later be clarified—she was a member of the Hand.

Though Matt loved her, their relationship was very complicated. In the end, the two decided to run off together. However, those plans would be canceled when Nobu killed her during a climactic rooftop battle.

An enraged Matt (with an assist from the newly minted Hell’s Kitchen vigilante The Punisher) enacted quick vengeance by using his billy club’s grappling line to throw Nobo off the building. Stick, on the ground floor, would soon finish the job with a well-deserved beheading.

After a heart-wrenching scene of Matt and Stick visiting Elektra’s grave, the audience got the big season finale twist—she’s not dead, or at least she wouldn’t be dead for long. We see the Hand ceremoniously wrap her body and place it in an ancient sarcophagus.

Today, the newest promo for The Defenders Twitter account released a promo that hints at Elektra’s return, which will most likely tie into the major story arc for the upcoming ensemble miniseries.
