We’ve known for a while now that Hulu had ordered a pilot for a television adaptation of the Marvel comic book series Runaways. Small tidbits about the production of the pilot like casting have been revealed, but not much else. Well, it seems that the pilot was well-received.
Deadline reports that Hulu has given Runaways a full series order. The announcement was made at Hulu’s upfront session in Manhattan. The first season will run for ten episodes, and is currently slated to air in 2018.
The presentation also featured a first look at the main protagonists of the show. A brief trailer was also screened and even leaked online before being taken down.

Runaways will be yet another series from Marvel Television. The media juggernaut is already balancing Agents of SHIELD and a string of current and upcoming Netflix shows. That doesn’t even include the forthcoming Inhumans on ABC along with Cloak & Dagger and New Warriors on FreeForm.

Runaways will take audiences to a different corner of the Marvel Universe. The comic book series originally debuted back in 2003. It focused on a diverse group of teens, who band together to fight their parents, a society of super villains known as “The Pride.” In doing so, the youths discover that they themselves have abilities and skills.
It’s way too early to tell what the series might be like, but with an interesting premise and unique characters, it should make for an intriguing television series.
