Arrow season 5, episode 21 synopsis: “Honor Thy Fathers”

This week on Arrow, Oliver Queen returns to office and must deal with the fallout of Adrian Chase’s Prometheus revelation.

Last week on Arrow‘s “Underneath” episode, Oliver and Felicity were trapped in the lair after triggering Adrian Chase’s EMP device. As their escape caused problems, it was a race against time to get out of the lair, which soon became a deadly trap.

Even though Adrian has been on the run, that hasn’t stopped the murderer from being one step ahead of Team Arrow. When Felicity used her biometric device to find him, an EMP bomb went off, locking both Felicity and Oliver in the lair.

The two tried to call for help, but they were unable to get a cell phone signal. Oliver’s attempts to climb the elevator shaft get him critically injured when one of Adrian’s hidden devices explodes.

Felicity had another idea, but that got them a methane leak. All attempts to seal it proved futile. As the lair started filling up with deadly gas, Oliver and Felicity made an escape through a hidden tunnel.

The rest of Team Arrow finally get wind of Oliver and Felicity’s predicament. Though their attempts were hindered by the methane leak, Curtis used a prototype T-Sphere that ARGUS had improved … ahem … stolen and then improved.

In the end, Oliver and Felicity were rescued, and they also learned a bit more about themselves. Oliver always trusted Felicity, but the reason for him keeping secrets from her was because he didn’t trust himself. The final scene showed the devious Adrian approaching Oliver’s son, William.

This week, Oliver must deal with a flood of newly released convicts who were originally prosecuted by Adrian. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:

“Honor Thy Fathers”

"CHASE CONTINUES TO TORMENT OLIVER – Oliver (Stephen Amell) returns to the mayor’s office and faces one of his most pressing issues yet – the forced release of dozens of violent criminals prosecuted by Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra). Meanwhile, a crate is delivered to Oliver’s office containing a mysterious corpse encased in concrete."
