In the Free Comic Book Day edition of DC Universe Rebirth Wonder Woman #1, we get a look at Greg Rucka’s brand new Wonder Woman origin story.

Free Comic Book Day 2017 was a great time to pick up some new titles and rediscover old favorites. Though the DC Comics Rebirth venture is only a year old, FCBD was a great time for a special edition of the Rebirth edition of Wonder Woman ahead of the movie’s June 2 release.

Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott are the team behind Wonder Woman Rebirth, at least for now. Both Rucka and Scott will be departing the title with issue #25 as the story arc comes to a close, making way for a new voice to take over.

Part of Rucka’s charge for the Wonder Woman Rebirth title was to reboot her origin story. Wonder Woman Rebirth #1 is the first book in the “Year One, Part One” arc and it simultaneously explores Diana’s early life on Themyscira as well as Steve Trevor’s life before his plane crashed.

Writer: Greg Rucka

The book is perfect for established fans and those new to the Wonder Woman mythology. It’s not clear how much of this story will tie into the upcoming Gal Gadot film, but it will be a good primer for fans looking to meet the people in Diana Prince’s circles ahead of the film.
