Wonder Woman: $105 million opening weekend possibility?

Initial estimates have put Wonder Woman’s opening weekend to be anywhere between $65 million to $105 million.

So far, Wonder Woman has been marketed with the words “courage,” “power,” and “wonder.” However, if The Wrap‘s reported initial estimates for the Goddess of Truth’s opening weekend box office earnings come true, Warner Bros. might want to consider adding a new word: “wealth.”

The Wrap is reporting that independent trackers are placing Wonder Woman‘s opening weekend earnings to fall in the range of $65 million to $105 million. The higher number is definitely a lofty goal, but the $65 million figure is still a respectable sum.

Anticipation for the film has been high, as her initial debut in the critically panned Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) was one of the only few highlights in the film. Tickets went on sale last week, so as we get closer to the date, a true figure will start to solidify.

After almost 40 years, this will be first live-action outing for Diana Prince. She was last embodied by Lynda Carter in the 1970s Wonder Woman television series. In 2011, a new Wonder Woman series was developed by David E. Kelley starring Adrianne Palicki in the titular role, but it never saw the light of day and only bootleg scenes are available for viewing.

DC fans are definitely keeping their fingers crossed, hoping that the Amazon warrior will lift the DC Extended Universe out of it’s rut. We’ll just have to wait until June 2, to see if she can do it.
