Summer of Heroes to take over Disney California Adventure

Hero Up at Disney California Adventure this summer as the park celebrates superheroes with a Summer of Heroes featuring the best from the Marvel Universe.

Have you ever wanted to dance with Star-Lord, escape with Rocket, swing with Spider-Man, and learn how to be a superhero with Black Widow and Hawkeye as your mentors? It’s time to Hero Up at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim as Marvel superheroes take over the park this summer as part of the Summer of Heroes celebration.

The adventure begins on May 27 when Rocket, Groot and the gang try to escape from The Collector’s fortress at the new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! ride. Those familiar with Disney California adventure will recall that this ride replaces the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which ended its run in January 2017. Crews have been working around the clock since January to get the ride ready. It features its own soundtrack, Marvel Easter Eggs galore in the queue, and six possible ride scenarios, making it the ride you’ll want to experience again and again. 

When you’re not trying to escape from the Collector, you can dance the night away at the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off! Here you’ll have a chance to dance, dance, dance with Star-Lord, Gamora and Groot at the main stage.

Youngsters will have a chance to join the Avengers Training Initiative where Hawkeye and Black Widow will teach recruits how to be superheroes. (If it’s anything like the Jedi Training Academy, it will be fun to watch even if you don’t have kids!) Kids can also visit the Hero Action Center to find out more about their inner hero.

Black Widow will be joining Captain America and Spider-Man for meet and greets in Hollywood Land. While Black Widow has been spotted at the park over the years at various events, this will be the first time she’ll be featured on a regular basis and it’s AWESOME to see her repping the girls!
