On the Season 2 finale of Supergirl, Kara faces off with Rhea to save National City.

For Season 2, the move from CBS to The CW was a great decision for Supergirl. Right out of the gate, we got what every fan had been waiting for—Superman. Teased and hinted throughout Season 1, we finally got the Man of Steel in the form of Tyler Hoechlin.

To say the actor “knocked it out of the park” is an understatement. All of Superman’s optimism and heroic grandeur were on full display—reminiscent of Christopher Reeve’s legendary portrayal.

Season 2 saw Kara Danvers continuing to juggle with the trials and tribulations of being a hero and a regular citizen. She got a new hard-hitting boss—Snapper Carr. A man who definitely didn’t sugarcoat things, but, nonetheless, was an upstanding guy who had the highest of ethics.

Mon-El was also introduced. The spoiled Daxamite was sort of thorn in Kara’s side, but he quickly learned the true meaning of selflessness and how to be a hero. As Kara’s and Mon-El’s relationship grew, it turned to love, and the two are now a couple.

Let’s also not forget the “dynamic duo” of Jimmy “Guardian” Olsen and techie Winn Schott. Jimmy found his calling, donning an advanced armored suit developed by Winn. Initially, the two hid their little nightly heroic escapades from Alex, Kara, and the DEO.

However, like every secret on the show, the truth was soon exposed. Though their friends didn’t like it one bit, Jimmy and Winn adamantly went forward with their heroics. The rest of the team soon warmed up to the idea of some extra helping hands. After all, National City could always use more heroes.

With all the good that has happened in Season 2, we can see how much is at stake in the season finale. As Kara faces off with Rhea, it isn’t just for Earth, it’s for everything Kara holds dear to her heart. Here’s the official synopsis from The CW:

“Nevertheless, She Persisted”
