Opening Day for Summer of Heroes at Disney California Adventure

Summer of Heroes has finally arrived at Disney California Adventure. From Black Widow appearances to Avengers training, it’s time to Hero Up!
Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of summer, and it also marks the opening for Disney California Adventure’s Summer of Heroes. The Anaheim theme park, part of the Disneyland Resort, is transforming Hollywood Land into superhero central, and there is no shortage of fun in store for the entire family.
Marvel is getting some Disney love this summer with the debut of the new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout ride along with the Summer of Heroes promotion. To help celebrate, Marvel superheroes are taking over DCA. Black Widow leads the charge, driving in on one of the Avengers vehicles for the ultimate photo opportunity.
Guests at the park during the grand opening of the Summer of Heroes had rave reviews for the event. It was fun and exciting and a great pairing with all of the excitement for the new ride. The experience also includes new food offerings (Gamora’s tacos, Groot bread, twigs in dirt chocolate madness) and tons of great merchandise.
With all of the excitement surrounding Summer of Heroes, it might be a preview of what’s to come in Disney California Adventure, where Marvel Land will likely find its home.

Summer of Heroes is important because Gamora and Black Widow make an appearance. While everyone can have fun with the Avengers, it’s nice to see some female superheroes making the rounds on a regular basis for the first time.
