Pair of male Fox News talking heads unsurprisingly don’t like Wonder Woman

Of course a pair of Fox News talking heads don’t think that Wonder Woman is American enough.

For the first time this year we have a summer blockbuster that has not only done its job but has served a purpose far greater than we ever expected. Wonder Woman is so many things: a savior for feeding DC/Warner Bros, the first true box office smash of the summer months and an empowering female driven film that is blazing a trail that should have long ago been paved.

It’s also one of the highest rated films of the last decade. Sitting with an insanely ripe 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, Wonder Woman is up there with Get Out as one of the most almost-universally acclaimed films of the year.

Guess the one place in America that might find an objection with a female driven superhero film that is literally flawless in every way. Yup, you guessed it — Fox News has found issue with Wonder Woman not being American enough, with one pundit going as far as to suggest it’s anti-American.

Here’s a gem uttered by Dion Baia during Friday’s episode of Your World with Neil Cavuto:

"“I think, nowadays, sadly, money trumps patriotism. Especially, recently, I personally feel like we’re not really very patriotic, the country, in a certain sense. They want these movies to succeed internationally, so they’re going to dial back.”"

Talk radio host Mike Gunzelman said, ““I think the Hollywood aspect, we see this time and time again, it’s cool to hate America these days.”

While it’s easy to get worked up about something a couple of male Fox News employees said about Wonder Woman, let’s remember the source. Two male Fox News talking heads.

Look, we’ve all been there. The pressure is on to say something outlandish — or just something at all — in order to hit your monthly quota. This is what Baia and a guy who still uses the nickname ‘Gunz’ get paid to do for a living.

It’s America, and the most American way to celebrate Wonder Woman and it’s success is to let those who choose to let their knuckles drag as low as they want. It’s a free country and if you want to eat a glue stick before going on live television and commenting on something way out of your depth, that’s something the Forefathers fought for.
