On June 15 tens of thousands of fans paid tribute to the late great Adam West in Los Angeles along with West’s family and friends.

The Bat-Signal was lit on June 15 to celebrate the life of actor Adam West, who passed away after a battle with leukemia at the age of 88. The city of Los Angeles came together to pay tribute to West by lighting the Bat-Signal at City Hall with the mayor and chief of police in attendance along with West’s family, his Batman costars, and thousands of Batman fans.

Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Charlie Beck were there with the iconic Bat-Phone, the red telephone from the 1960s show that provided a direct line from the police commissioner’s office to the Batcave.

Among the guests in attendance were Burt Ward, who played Batman’s faithful sidekick Robin, and Lee Meriweather, one of the three women who brought Catwoman to life.

Fans dressed in their Batman finery, and the original 1960s Batmobile was also there for the occasion. Jim Lee was there as both a fan and as the main man at DC Comics.
