Her Cape Guide to SDCC: #92 – Netflix at SDCC
Her Cape 100 Things to Know About SDCC continues with #92: Netflix has a booth at SDCC! Here’s what you need to know!
With the release of the 2017 San Diego Comic Con Exhibit Hall map and list of exhibitors, we can start looking for hidden treasures. One such hidden treasure: Netflix. That’s right — Netflix has a booth at SDCC, and there are lots of reasons to be excited.
Vendors with major real estate on the SDCC Exhibit Hall floor are known for being the power players in entertainment. DC Comics. ABC Studios. AMC. Lionsgate. Marvel. Lucasfilm. It’s an even bigger indicator when there are new booths from networks and movie studios. New networks popping up on the Exhibit Hall floor is a big deal because space is at a premium and newcomers have to pay a pretty penny for a spot on the floor. If they can make this jump, things are going well.
2017 will see Netflix debut its first booth at SDCC, which is a big deal. While Netflix has hosted panels, and merchandise featuring Netflix shows is in abundance, Netflix has never had its own spot on the floor. Until now.
We haven’t seen a schedule for Netflix promotions at SDCC yet, but we can speculate what might happen at their booth. There’s no question that Netflix swag will be given away at the booth, but it’s also very likely that there will be booth signings featuring the casts of popular shows like Stranger Things and Orange is the New Black. We might even see the Netflix and Marvel booths team up for a signing featuring The Defenders, which premieres August 18 on Netflix.
