D23 Rumors: Marvel Land to replace A Bug’s Land?
As D23 2017 kicks off, one of the big rumors is about Marvel Land at Disney California Adventure – and where it might go.
Every two years, Disney fans converge upon the Anaheim Convention Center (conveniently located beside the Disneyland Resort) for the D23 Expo. D23 is Disney’s own convention, which makes it the place to be for all of your Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel information. In 2015 there was huge news announced about Star Wars Land and Avatar Land, and now in 2017 Disney insiders are convinced that a big announcement is coming about Marvel Land.
Marvel Land is not an “if” and is really just a matter of timing. Some day there will be a Marvel Land at the Disneyland Resort, housed within the Disney California Adventure theme park that is the new home of the new Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout ride. DCA is also playing host to Marvel’s Summer of Heroes installation celebrating Marvel’s finest.
Rumors are swirling among various Disney insider websites that one of the big announcements at the Disney Parks panel will be the arrival of Marvel Land in Disney California Adventure.
But we know that already, right? Why is this news?
Wait for it….
The caveat to this announcement is that the current rumors suggest that Marvel Land will replace A Bug’s Land, incorporating new rides and some overlays to existing rides.
From a logistics standpoint, working over existing structures make for a quicker transition, and after Shanghai Disneyland, Star Wars Land, and Avatar Land, Disney will be looking for ways to finish quick and cut costs. Instead of starting from scratch, they can incorporate A Bug’s Land into Marvel Land.
Ant-Man, anyone?
While these are just rumors at this point, it makes perfect sense. The new Guardians of the Galaxy ride has been a huge success and it is located next to A Bug’s Land, so why not blend them together?
