Was SDCC Game of Thrones footage leaked?

Imagine waiting in a line for over 36 hours to see exclusive footage of Game of Thrones only to have it leak the morning of the panel. Yeah. That sucks.

Friday and Saturday are big television days at San Diego Comic Con and people wait for days – literally – to get into Hall H for their favorite shows. Among the headliners on Friday: The Walking Dead, Twin Peaks, and Game of Thrones.

This year, Game of Thrones is airing during SDCC, so fans are hoping to see some exclusive content during the panel in addition to seeing members of the cast and crew. Yes, seeing the cast and possible landing some swag from the panel is a big deal, but there is a lot of hope that exclusive footage might also be shared. (Given that we’re at SDCC during the season, there’s no telling what kind of footage might come out)

Imagine the shock to fans waiting in that line when a Portuguese fan account (@briennaodtarth) posts a trailer from Game of Thrones, with footage supposedly released during SDCC. That might not raise the alarms under normal circumstances, but it came out early in the morning, hours before the show’s afternoon panel.

Was the special SDCC footage spoiled? We won’t know until the panel happens. If this was some of the special panel footage, I can only imagine how upsetting this would be for fans who waited outside for over 36 hours to get in.

Game of Thrones is huge at SDCC. As I sit writing this, a Jon Snow cosplayer passed by. Yeah, it’s hot and humid when you venture outside, but he’s in a heavy faux fur coat and leather. Props to him.

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9pm on HBO.
