Start getting ready for the blockbusters of Summer 2018
The summer of 2017 is barely over, but looking ahead to the movies scheduled for next summer make us wish 2018 would hurry up and get here!
Back to school items filling up the aisles at local stores is a sure sign that summer is winding down, but fear not: The sooner Summer 2017 ends, the closer we are to the fantastic movies of Summer 2018. But are these blockbusters coming at us too fast?
The slate of big-name summer tentpole films in 2018 is impressive to say the least. For the sake of this article we’re going to focus on some of the bigger names, and interestingly enough the big name movies of Summer 2018 are all sequels.
Avengers: Infinity War kicks things off on May 4, followed by the Han Solo movie on May 25. Then it’s Deadpool 2 (June 1), Ocean’s 8 (June 8), The Incredibles 2 (June 15), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22) and Ant-Man and The Wasp (July 6).
That’s seven major movies in almost as many weeks. Summer 2018 is going to be a roller coaster of potential mega-blockbusters and we have Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther coming in the meantime.
Lately, it seems the cornucopia of awesome movies is overflowing. Summer 2017 gave us Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Wonder Woman and Spider-Man: Homecoming. And the awesomeness just keeps coming. But is too much of a good thing a bad thing in the end?
It used to be that every summer there was one, two, or maybe three tentpole films that stood the test of time. I’ll never forget that Independence Day was the IT movie of the summer of 1996. These days, the blockbusters come at us every week, bombarding our senses – and our wallets – as they clamor for box office supremacy. With so many awesome movies coming so fast, do we have time to really enjoy them?
