Wonder Woman edges closer to $400 million at domestic box office

Wonder Woman may not be in the box office top 10, but the movie is hovering right below the $400 million mark after the August 4 weekend totals.

There’s nothing Wonder Woman can’t do. Two months after being released, the movie is still going strong in just over 1300 theaters with a projected $2 million haul at the August 4 box office. While that number might not seem like a big deal, it’s actually incredibly important because it puts Wonder Woman just a hair under $400 million at the domestic box office.

Wonder Woman has already shattered records, and now it sits at $399.5 million. It will be the first movie to hit $400 at the domestic box office in 2017, which is very fitting considering how Wonder Woman has taken the world by storm. She passed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as the highest earning movie of the 2017 summer box office. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is about to move to home release while Wonder Woman continues to earn at the box office.

With Wonder Woman’s immense success, there has been a rush to get more super women onto the big screen with plans for standalone Batgirl, Gotham Sirens, and Captain Marvel movies. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to see Diana Prince again, as she will appear in November’s Justice League. Marvel, however, announced that Captain Marvel will not make an appearance in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, which could be a huge missed opportunity to introduce her to the fandom and get people excited about her movie, which comes out in 2019.
