If not for Daredevil season 2, it would have taken the top spot. It wasn’t a bad season by any means, but a step below from season 1’s success.

Season 1 highlighted Matthew Murdock’s rise to become the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. His journey to don the red suit was one of the best things Marvel had on Netflix, along with Wilson Fisk as the villain. Vincent D’Onofrio’s take on Fisk was menacing and a highlight of watching Daredevil, rivaling for the best villain performance of these five shows.

It wasn’t just D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox, either. Elodie Yung (Elektra), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), and Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) were all strong in their roles in seasons 1 and 2.

Season 2 dipped with the Hand, which fell in Iron Fist and The Defenders. It actually looked its strongest in Daredevil, but never had the effect of Fisk. A bright spot came through with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, however, who stole the show and earned his own Marvel Netflix series.

Season 3 is still to come for Daredevil, which will better cement its legacy. That will come at a later date, with the potential for this hero’s biggest comic storyline entering the fold.
