A Suicide Squad 2 might not be a bad thing after all.
Well folks, it looks like Suicide Squad is going to get a sequel now that a director has been attached. Now I like most movie fans didn’t particularly enjoy the first Suicide Squad movie. I had some high expectations from those incredible trailers that came out but the end result was pretty disappointing. I’m sure all over the internet you can find articles why this movie is doomed to fail, but not here.
Let’s look at why Suicide Squad 2 should happen

5. The new director is great
Let’s start with the latest news from this story. Director Gavin O’Connor has been hired to write and direct this project. This news completely changed my mindset about this upcoming sequel from bad idea, to great idea. This guy is one of the most underrated directors working today. He directed two of my favorite movies, Miracle and Warrior. Let me talk about Miracle for a second, this film is about a group of misfits when brought together pull off an incredible achievement — a miracle you may say. He also knows how to film some intense action set pieces. He made a movie about Olympic hockey games feel like an epic battle.
In Warrior, he directed Nick Nolte so well that he got a Supporting Actor nomination, so he clearly understands how to get a great performance out of actors. Especially with Tom Hardy, who in that film was like a terrifying force of nature. Watch the scene where he spars with one of the main fighters at the gym he just joined — his aggression and fury instantly made him a compelling antagonist to watch. As you can see, Gavin O’Connor can get some great performances and has a specialty with characters that are bad people’s doing good things. Imagine him working with talent like Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and Jared Leto (too soon?).
