Reviewing the latest episode of Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Marvel’s Spider-Man episode 6, titled “Symbiotic Relationship,” has our hero battling Vulture and himself. When Peter ends up hurting someone close to him thanks to the black suit, he finally realizes the suit is a major problem and enlists the help of an enemy to try to get rid of it.

The episode starts off with Spider-Man, in his black suit, catching a few criminals wearing Spider-Man masks. As Spidey is monologing his exposition, he explains that the new suit doesn’t run out of webbing, makes him faster and stronger and “nearly unstoppable”.

Spider-Man jumps the gun when he sees Vulture flying around. Spidey brings him back to jail, only to find out that Vulture was a free man just minding his business so the police let him go. Turns out, Norman Osborn bailed Vulture out. Is this the beginning of the Sinister Six? We will have to see.

Okay, let’s hold on for a minute. Peter, thanks to the black suit, has a change in personality that is really unbearable. I get it; he’s supposed to be a different guy who really just rubs a lot of people the wrong way. But, man, this version is really heavy.

When the Horizon High team is trying to figure out what to present to the Stark Expo, since the black suit is missing, Peter basically tells them to not worry about it because he’s the man. I mean, come on.

So, it’s night time and we see Alistair Smythe lurking in a lab in Horizon High. He too is looking for the black suit. He’s also wearing the Vulture suit. Max catches him and so Vulture is about to finish him off but them Spidey enters the scene and easily takes care of Vulture.

I have to think, here. Did he easily take care of Vulture because Smythe isn’t experienced with the suit, or what it the overpowered black suit on Peter? I ask this because Max tells Spidey to calm down because he was apparently going too far while beating the mess out of Vulture. Spidey has a moment where he’s snapped out of the rage he’s in and is all like “I am?”

Vulture used that chance to get up, grab Max, and drop him outside. Spidey puts a tracker on Vulture and rescues Max.

Right, so this is when the episode really gets into party mode. Spidey tracks down the Vulture. He sees Toomes and naturally begins interrogating him. Harry Osborn comes in and mentions that Toomes has been in the building all night. Spidey ain’t hearing that. He decides that Toomes simply got rid of the tracer and is ready to smash Toomes when Harry grabs one of the sonic things from Vulture’s costume.

Now, we know the sonic blast hurts anyone. However, the black suit is especially susceptible to it. So, the black suit is going crazy and attacks Harry. Peter’s voice is of horror as he tries to wrestle control of the suit. He then swings out of the building. He’s been recorded and the scene immediately moves to an office where Toomes, Smythe, and Norman are talking about how Spidey has on the black suit everyone has been looking for.

Peter goes home and takes off the suit. He wants to return the suit, but the suit jumps back onto Peter and won’t let go. What happens is a battle throughout the city as Spidey fights the suit. The suit even takes human form and is fighting Spidey.

Eventually, he ends up at Oscorp, and Norman tries to talk Spidey into giving him the suit. When that doesn’t work, he gets Toomes and Smythe to attack; both of them wearing Vulture suits. Eventually, Spidey asks them to sonic blast his suit off, and it ends up in a containment unit that Norman has. After securing the suit, Spidey snatches the box and delivers it to Max. Peter is disqualified from the Stark Expo and, ya know, that’s the end of that.

This episode was really good especially that scene when Peter goes to Osborn Academy and things are revealed and the black suit becomes the ultimate problem for Peter. I still didn’t really like Peter when he was being consumed via personality by the suit, but I liked how he had his moments of self-reflection.
