Wonder Woman claims top spot in DVD sales
After a thrilling event for the release of the DVD, it’s no wonder that Wonder Woman sales debuted at the top of the charts in its first week.
Wonder Woman continues her box office domination as the DVD hit No. 1 in its first week of home sales. Since its June 2 premiere fans have been salivating for the chance to bring home the summer box office smash hit, hoping for lots of fun features and bonus footage. Upon its release it’s no surprise that the DVD is at the top of the charts, too.
Wonder Woman knocked Tom Cruise’s The Mummy from the top spot, outselling the first installment of Universal’s movie monsters series by over 13%. Given the film’s prowess, it’s not likely to leave the top spot on the charts any time soon.
Sales got a big boost as a DVD launch event was hosted in Los Angeles to commemorate the big day. 300 drones took to the sky for a light show synchronized to music from the Wonder Woman score, which was played by a live orchestra.
Take a look as drones light up the Los Angeles skyline:
Wonder Woman has plowed through box office records all summer long. The film’s success catapulted director Patty Jenkins into the history books as she became the most successful female director in Hollywood. The movie recently became the No. 20 earner at the domestic box office, and it’s the fifth highest grossing superhero film of all time.

At this point there’s not much Wonder Woman can’t do, to be honest. And she isn’t done yet. The movie’s star, Gal Gadot, will make her debut as the host of Saturday Night Live on October 7 ahead of Diana Prince’s return to the big screen in Justice League on November 17, 2017.
