Riverdale season 2 preview: Things are getting even darker
By Sonya Iryna
What’s coming next for the gang in Riverdale season 2? Looks like things are going to get even darker this season.
The first season of Riverdale may have closed the book on Jason Blossom’s murder but it turns out that the death of the maple syrup heir opened up a Pandora’s box of secrets in the seemingly perfect Riverdale.
Jughead and Betty are at odds over his apparent decision to join the Southside Serpents. Jughead being placed with a foster family on the Southside and attending a new school is going to put a lot of pressure on their relationship. That’s on top of the pressure that was already there after Betty threw Jughead a totally unwanted and unwelcome birthday party.
Veronica is going to have to face her father coming home a lot sooner than expected. After suspecting her father of having a hand in Jason Blossom’s death and finding out more about his shady business dealings Veronica is going to have a lot of uncomfortable questions for her father.
She will also have a visitor from the past that may impact her relationship with Archie. Her ex-boyfriend is going to reappear, and with an unchecked sense of privilege and a bad attitude he’s bound to cause all sorts of trouble in Riverdale. And somehow she will still need to find a way to be there for Archie.

Is Fred Dead?
Archie is going to be reeling from witnessing Fred getting shot. Fred may or may not survive, which is sure to make Archie’s emotional reaction to the shooting worse. But Betty and Jughead are convinced there was more to the shooting at Pop’s than a simple robbery. The answers they are looking for will bring up more questions and bring to light more about the drug ring and other seedy activities going on underneath Rivderdale’s shiny veneer.
More Small Town Secrets and Family Dysfunction
Betty’s brother is also going to appear in season 2, which should make the family dynamics in the Cooper household even more dysfunctional.
Who would have thought that Jason Blossom trying to fake his own death and getting actually murdered in the process would be the least shocking of Riverdale’s secrets? But it looks like Riverdale’s troubling secrets are going to come to light in season 2 thanks to the intrepid sleuthing of Jughead, Betty and the rest of the gang.
Riverdsale season 2 premieres on The CW on Wednesday, October 11th.
