On Tuesday night, The Flash will return for its second episode of season 4. It follows up on the dramatic season 4 premiere. Team Flash attempted to get Barry Allen out of the Speed Force and multiple villains were introduced, including one that will play into future episodes.
After an evil Samuroid attacked Central City, it demanded that Wally West and Cisco Ramon bring The Flash to him. He was in the Speed Force for the past six months, so this seemed impossible. However, with Ramon’s desire to get his best friend back, he created a Speed Force Bazooka and retrieved Barry from purgatory.
When the Scarlet Speedster returned, he didn’t seem like himself. He rattled off sentences from old memories in season 1 and 2 and was forced into the S.T.A.R. Labs holding chamber. When Iris West was in danger, it snapped him out of this phase and he rescued her from the Samuroid.

The next episode is titled “Mixed Signals.” Promos for it tease issues with the new suit and couples therapy with Iris. The latter stems from Team Flash control issues, with Barry still thinking it’s his team, while Iris feels the group is the Flash.
Will there be another villain of the week? It’s early for a full introduction of the season’s big bad, who appeared in the closing scene of the season premiere, so it’s possible someone shows up to occupy Barry’s time.
