4. Agent Carter

I really enjoyed this show. This was a prequel in the universe following the, basically, love interest of Captain America shortly after he was frozen. Her show was a gap filler during winter breaks for Agents of Shield.

Anyway, this was a solid show, featuring the MCU’s first female lead. Peggy Carter was sensational as a strong fighter who was smart and had great wit. The supporting cast was excellent as well. They really brought various elements to the table.

I was sad to see the show come to an end. Very good show and it’s no surprise Halyey Atwell immediately got another lead on ABC right after the cancellation. She’s fantastic.

3. Luke Cage

This show was supposed to be number one, honestly. If you only judged the shows by the first half, then this show won. Great villain. Great hero. Even great supporting cast. I mean, whew! This was really a top show. Then, they made a few decisions and things kinda went another way and ew.

The soundtrack was great.

So, Luke Cage really fit the bill as we’ve seen in other versions of the character. He was a gentle giant who preferred not to easily smash skulls in like he could. He’s charismatic and, ahem, gets along well with the ladies. He’s the most public hero of The Defenders and he learns to embrace that completely.

Cottonmouth is the MVP, here. The smooth, sadistic operation he had was only rivaled by another villain soon to be mentioned on the list. He was ruthless yet very calculating. You simply didn’t want to mess with him. At all.

Pop from the barbershop. Shake my head. I can’t think of a better mentor for a hero. Even the villains respected him (for the most part). The guy was a legend.

The second half of the season saw a major drop in quality of characters and story and that’s a shame. Still, it’s one of the best Marvel and Netflix brought to the table.
