Marvel’s Inhumans episode 6 review: The Gentleman’s Name is Gorgon

Reviewing Friday night’s episode of Marvel’s Inhumans.

The Inhumans set off to find Crystal. Of course, they get distracted by Auran’s call that she had Dr. Declan and Sammy. Black Bolt had everyone split up, with one group after Crystal and the other after Sammy and Dr. Declan. For the fourth week in a row, still not seeing the importance of Sammy and his poorly build character. We know nothing about him.

While Maximus developed an army, a coup was staged against him behind the scenes. Tibor reported it to Maximus, who didn’t seem to fully trust what was going on. It’s difficult to tell what side Tibor is actually playing for, but he seemed like a potential casualty once this mess is over.

Karnak and Gorgon went to rescue Sammy and Declan. Karnak easily took out the “dangerous” Auran with one punch. So, he confronted Mordis and tried to talk him out of a fight, playing on his past emotions. All Gorgon had to say was “over here” to distract Mordis and he placed in a sleeper hold. Taking out Maximus’ two most powerful henchpeople couldn’t have been more anticlimactic. Oh, and Sammy just asked Karnak and Gorgon in they had powers, felt good that he wasn’t the only “freak,” and ran away. That’s it?

Through the episode, Crystal and Random Dave kept their unnecessary, cringe-worthy relationship going. It never developed enough to be crucial to the show, along with Random Ex-Veterinarian that her phone burned. This storyline had potential for Crystal’s character, encountering a human and developing a relationship. She did this, but her character was so unlikeable and the story and writing were worse.

Random Ex-Veterinarian returned with the police so they could see Lockjaw. Everyone escaped with the teleporting dog, before the police entered to see just Louise. Nice ruse and a way to get the annoying Random Ex-Veterinarian out of the picture.

Auran and Gorgon had a fun fight scene around the three-quarters mark. It was entertaining for about 10 seconds until Auran “surrendered.” Simultaneously, Karnak freed Declan. Auran fled, however, and the chaos caused Mordis to try killing everyone. The casualty was Gorgon, who stomped down the lab and was killed.

To close the episode, Maximus had the ones that planned the coup taken away and killed Tibor. He scared Bronaja into being loyal, almost like his right-hand man and the episode closed.

I was stunned and never thought a member of the Royal Family would be killed off. Have to wonder if the plan is for Gorgon to be revived, much like other superhero shows have done. With just two episodes of Inhumans remaining and the likelihood of this show not returning for a second season, that may have Gorgon’s permanent end.
