Her Cape Editorial: So much great television, so little time….

With the release of Stranger Things 2 comes the dilemma of how to watch all of this glorious television in what little free time we all have.

With so many great shows on television, how on Earth do we find the time to watch it all?

Now that season 2 of Stranger Things is available, there are people binging the entire series in one sitting while other people try to break it down into manageable chunks.

This truly is the New Golden Age of Television and we’re living in it. “Television” is no longer defined by what comes through the cable in the wall, is routed through a box and set to our televisions, rather “television” is a general term that encompasses streaming services and all of their wonderful original content, too. In most cases, the television is now the vessel for the great shows, while some people prefer their computers. And that’s all fine. It doesn’t matter how you watch so long as you’re watching.

But how do you fit all of these great shows into your life? I’m still working that one out, truthfully. Sometimes I allow shows to accumulate episodes. I recently started watching Marvel’s Inhumans. I let the show go for about seven weeks before I started watching and it was great to have a bunch of episodes to watch. In this case, I watch it at night after all of the shows I watch live are over. This seems to work well.

With Stranger Things 2, I’m planning to implement a system of watching no more than two episodes at a time. I love having the whole season at once but as soon as you have watched the entire season, it’s done. I much prefer delayed gratification in this case. (Of course, I say this but it doesn’t always work…)
