The big news on this week’s The Flash was kind of pushed aside in favor of some divisive depictions of certain people.
The addition of Ralph Dibny to the cast of characters on Team Flash has had mixed reactions. Some people enjoy the new chemistry that he brings while others are pretty disgusted by everything he says. This week episode of The Flash also introduced the Council of Wells, a team of Harrison Wells from across dimensions that are now working together to find the villainous Devoe.
All of this really was set aside as many fans focused on the fact that The Flash portrayed a Native American woman as the villain for wanting to return her people’s artifacts to their true home. This new season is obviously trying to be lighter and more humorous, but it has also fallen on the now old tropes of Barry not being able to catch villains that he should be able to easily stop.
The villain this week certainly needed to be stopped after she murdered someone, but it is still difficult to not want to side with her. The now permanently lighter tone sort of takes away from a serious examination of the issues this episode brought up. Dibny’s sexist jokes fall more flat and douchey than humorous. Let’s take a look at how the internet is reacting to this week’s episode of the Flash.

So Ralph, the “hero”, constantly objectifies women and doesn’t have common decency... but the black bison, “the villain” wants to avenge her people and reclaim their historical relics. Is it Opposite Day or something? #Theflash #datflash pic.twitter.com/D9RPXFvI4B
