2. Great Cameos

Last year’s crossover coincided with Arrow‘s 100th episode which led to some inevitable cameo appearances; Oliver’s parents and Laurel’s return were all expected and well publicised beforehand. This year, the cameos were much more closely-guarded and truly came as a surprise to the viewers.

The reveal that Earth-X’s Prometheus was Tommy Merlyn was certainly a surprise and actually fulfilled many fan’s predictions for his true identity during Season 5 of Arrow. It was a shame that we didn’t see more of him, but what we saw delivered an emotional roller-coaster for Oliver. There was also another cameo from Moira Queen who was the voice of Earth-X’s answer to Gideon, the Waverider’s A.I.

1. Introducing The Ray

While it might have been somewhat of a risk introducing a new superhero in amongst the insanity that was the crossover event, Russell Tovey’s Ray Terrill was a worthy addition to the Arrowverse’s collection of heroes.

The Ray’s introduction helped the heroes escape their captivity on Earth-X and he played a key part in the final battle. His debut also allowed us to meet Earth-X’s Leonard Snart, who was a very different character to the one we met in The Flash.

So, there you have it. Though last year’s Invasion! was good, we were given something even better this time. The standard has been set for future crossovers – let’s hope next year’s is even better.
