On Wednesday night, Riverdale returns for its second-to-last episode before the midseason break. This will put the show on hiatus until January 2018, meaning we may be hitting a critical point of season 2’s arc soon.

The focus continues to be on the Black Hood — the man who has terrorized Riverdale for the first seven episodes of season 2, along with the season 1 finale. No one knows who he is, however, despite intuitions in “Chapter 20.”

Betty was convinced Sheriff Keller was the Hood, due to the latter assailant breaking into the sheriff’s office to kill Mr. Phillips. It seemed too easy for someone to do this. Especially with Keller fitting the stocky body type of the shooter.

However, Veronica thought Keller was having an affair. Resulting in his recent change behavior.

After a thorough investigation, Betty and Veronica followed Keller to a motel, where he kissed Mayor McCoy. These two shared previous scenes in Riverdale, but without any sexual tension. That may change in the upcoming episodes, with the Hood potentially making them targets, given his attack on the “sinners” of the town.

So, we left “Chapter 20″ not knowing who the Hood is. Will we get any closer in”Chapter 21: House of the Devil?”
