DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will replace Firestorm. Who could it be? Spoilers from the past two weeks of shows follow.
In “Crisis on Earth-X” and the midseason finale of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the Legends lost both parts of Firestorm, Martin Stein and Jefferson Jackson. The actors, Victor Garber and Franz Drameh, both departed the show.
With this hole on the Legends, it makes sense for someone to join them. Given the events of the midseason finale, we know John Constantine will join them. For how long, though, remains to be seen. Citizen Cold stayed after “Crisis on Earth-X,” as well, with an unknown timetable for his placement on Earth-1.
As it turns out, there will be someone taking Firestorm’s spot, according to Arrowverse producer Marc Guggenheim (Via ComicBook.com). It’s an existing character in the CW’s universe, someone who Guggenheim is “really excited about.”
"“We do have a plan for how to replace Firestorm on the bridge, and it’s a really cool one. It’s one we’re really excited about.” Guggenheim continued, “There’s really like two empty chairs on the Waverider. So we do have a game plan. We’ve always had a game plan. I just can’t talk about the game plan. The CW publicity will determine when we get to unleash that bit of news.”"
With all the names that traveled through the Arrowverse, there are options to replace Firestorm. It wouldn’t make sense for Constantine to be the person, as he already appeared and will be on the CW Seed’s Constantine. The Ray was ruled out, too. So who could it be?
3. Jesse Quick
Aside from a break-up cube, Jesse Quick never appeared on a season-4 episode of The Flash. Her father, Harry Wells, noted there was a “Team Quick” on their Earth. Meaning she took a similar role to Barry Allen on Earth-1, forming their own team. We never found out who’s part of that team (a great opportunity for comic references), but that can be saved for another day.
However, what if Quick got sent off her Earth in a battle and became an aberration in time? She could be in the 1500’s, the 1720’s, the 1950’s or the late 1999’s, and be marked on the Time Bureau’s radar. The Legends find her, hear the story of what happened, and she stays with them, in somewhat similar fashion to Amaya’s arrival in season 2.
The drawback to this? It’s unknown if actress Violett Beane would even be available. Deadline reported her role on Fox’s The Resident in September, the potential reason for her absence on The Flash. Maybe it takes her out of the remainder of this season’s CW shows. However, the 21-year-old’s responsibilities could be over, leading to an opening for the final nine episodes of Legends of Tomorrow.
