Star Wars: All 8 movies, ranked from worst to best

6. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Hands down the best prequel, which isn’t saying much (and if Rogue One doesn’t count). This movie had what fans wanted, plenty of fun lightsaber battles, great action set pieces, and it actually sets everything in motion as a lead into A New Hope. We see Anakin’s turn to the dark side, the rise of the empire, and all the Jedi get wiped out by the very convenient plot device Order 66. For a series aimed more towards children, this movie was pretty dark, almost as an homage to Empire Strikes Back, a sequel where the bad guys win.
Although the prequels weren’t very good, this movie at least plays as a good pay off to what these movies were setting up for the past few years. It should have made General Grievous more menacing instead of a cheesy, mediocre bad guy. The character was cool in the animated Clone Wars series (the 2D one) and seeing him get defeated by Obi-Wan so easily was a letdown.
The final duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin was great, and while it may have gone on a tad too long, Lucas and his crew pulled off a really incredible sequence. The same goes for its focus on fight choreography than CGI people. This prequel also has the least terrible dialogue of the three, beside the “killing younglings” line.
