Star Wars: All 8 movies, ranked from worst to best

1. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Remember how we noted Empire was iconic for Star Wars? This movie is iconic for cinema in general.
A New Hope revolutionized how films were made, marketed, and told forever, putting Lucas into instant stardom. This film is truly special to me and to millions of people across generations. It’s not just the story that makes this movie incredible, the visual effects are wonderful (at the time truly the best), the editing is masterful, Darth Vader’s legendary voice is what turned the character into one of the greatest in movie history, and last but not least, John Williams’ score is truly magnificent.

This movie has something that none of the other Star Wars films have. It’s a true standalone story. The other movies do not work without the movie that it’s preceding. If this movie came out and Lucas decided to never continue the story ever again, this movie would still be considered a classic. It’s the ultimate adventure and is a story with universal themes that just takes place in a fantasy universe. It inspired hundreds of filmmakers like me to imagine and create worlds and stories of their own for many years to come. Every movie, book, game, and TV show that you like, owes itself to Star Wars: A New Hope, which not only changed movies. It changed culture.
