Riverdale returns for its midseason finale on Wednesday night. A look at how to watch it online.

Since Riverdale already took a week off in November, it didn’t cross season 2’s midseason finale on Dec. 6, the week other CW shows went off the air for the winter. However, after Wednesday night’s episode, that will change.

The midseason finale of Riverdale potentially will bring the Black Hood story to a crossroads. He murdered multiple people in the town, while attempting psychological warfare with Betty Cooper.

Heading into the ninth episode, however, it’s possible we see who’s under the hood. The CW’s trailer for “Chapter 22: Silent Night, Deadly Night” teased that the Hood will at least appear. In what matter, though, remains to be seen, as he showed up in the present-day and dreams.

Will Betty and the Hood go face-to-face in real life? Or is this a dream?

Speaking of the youngest Cooper, she and Archie Andrews closed “Chapter 21” with a cryptic and flirtatious stare, from their respective windows. It brought back memories of season 1, when Betty was interested in Archie. Nothing materialized, as Betty dated Jughead and Archie saw Veronica. The latter relationships appear to be over, or up in the air, so could Riverdale present a new couple in “Chapter 22?”

This episode of Riverdale could be ground-breaking for season 2. Especially if the Black Hood’s identity is revealed. It’s an opportunity to provide a winter-long cliffhanger, before the show returns in January 2018. The same goes for a potential Archie-Betty couple.
