Star Wars: The Last Jedi revealed the identity of Rey’s parents. Movie spoilers are ahead.

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the mystery behind Rey’s parents was revealed. Who were they, and do they connect to the story at all?

Let’s start with what happened in The Force Awakens. This began Rey’s journey from unknown girl on Jakku to a Force-wielding Jedi, who wanted to learn more from Luke Skywalker. She attempted this in The Last Jedi, finding the inner Force from Luke’s teaching and a balance.

With Rey channeling the Force in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, theories developed that surrounded her bloodline. Was she the daughter of Han Solo and Leia Organa? What about as Luke’s offspring?

Well, neither was the case, as Rey’s parents weren’t anyone you’d expect. In fact, the viewers never met her folks in any of the Star Wars films.

After working with Kylo Ren to defeat Supreme Leader Snoke’s henchmen, Ren attempted to lure Rey onto his side and rule the galaxy. Part of the conflicted villain’s pitch featured him describing where Rey’s parents came from. They were nobodies. Just junk traders on Jakku that sold her off.

Was this your expectation? It didn’t provide a swerve of Rey possessing Skywalker bloodlines or had any relation to a known character. She was her own person, someone who channeled the Force on her own and became a Jedi. It’s unlike Kylo, the son of Han and Leia.

Of course, Kylo may have lied to emotionally fracture Rey and get her to align with him. However, his words are all fans have to lean on until Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019.

Rey’s just an ordinary person, like all the Star Wars fans, and the boy seen in the last scene of the movie. Were you satisfied with this or disappointed?
