Star Wars: The Last Jedi continued the story of our favorite characters, but not every single one of them came out alive by the end.

Warning: There are MASSIVE spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi below, obviously. You have been warned…

After two years of anticipation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has finally hit theaters and fans have fallen in love with the latest entry in the Star Wars saga. The film continues to follow the story of our new favorite characters such as Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo Ren while introducing new and intriguing characters such as Rose Tico, D.J. and Vice Admiral Holdo.

Unfortunately, not every single character made it out alive. In fact, there were five significant deaths that occurred in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Let’s take a look at which characters kicked the bucket in the most recent installment in the Star Wars saga:

Admiral Ackbar

“It’s a trap!” Admiral Gial Ackbar, who was introduced in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, was one of the major casualties in The Last Jedi along with a good chunk of the Resistance leadership. The Mon Calamari military commander was serving on the bridge of the Raddus when the Resistance was trying to escape the First Order’s wrath.

During the battle, we see Kylo Ren target the bridge in his TIE Silencer, but he ultimately doesn’t fire because he didn’t have the willpower to kill his mother, General Leia Organa. Nevertheless, two TIE Fighters swept in and finished the job, blowing up all of the Resistance’s leadership – including Admiral Ackbar. The only person to survive the explosion was Leia, who solely survived because she is force-sensitive.
