Every week there are tons of comic books hitting the shelves across the country. These are just a handful worth your time.

It’s Wednesday, which means new comic books arrive. Let’s look at the latest ones to be released:

Green Lanterns #37: Written by Tim Seeley and art by Matt Santorelli & Carlo Barberi. Peacekeepers: part one! Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz find themselves stuck between a rock and a hard case as they’re called back to a distant world on the brink of war to investigate the death of an alien official. As the mystery deepens, the Green Lanterns discover that their own actions may be tied to the crime.

Jessica and Simon are one of the best things to happen to the Green Lantern saga in a long time. The Green Lantern Corp has always been about the team effort, but this dynamic duo have brought in a whole new era for those who protect the darkest night.

Defenders #8: Written by Brian Michael Bendis and art by David Marquez. The bloody battle for the streets of New York hits a zenith, as one of the potential Kingpin crimelords has a change of heart that sends shock waves across the entire Marvel Universe. At the same time, Luke and Jessica’s bad press has a disastrous impact on their lives. How does Diamondback know so much about the Defenders?

You need to jump on this series before it disappears along with long-time Marvel scribe Brian Michael Bendis. The art style and battle layouts of Marquez have been breathtaking. I mean the Iron Fist and Elektra battle from last issue was pretty epic.

Batman #37: Written by Tom King and art by Clay Mann. The stunning conclusion to the two-part story. Torn apart by betrayal, Batman and Superman try to find a way back to friendship, to trust. Both understand that the future of the DCU depends on this relationship; both understand that without the help of the other, their lives will fall apart. And yet, one is still the spoiled rich boy, and the other is still the naive farm boy. Men from two worlds confront each other and try to see the hope behind the madness.

Ms. Marvel #25: Written by G. Willow Wilson and art by Nico Leon. Jersey City still has a need for a superhero, but why has KAMALA KHAN, a.k.a MS. MARVEL, vanished? In the wake of her disappearance, the city’s newest hero RED DAGGER and even ordinary citizens attempt to carry on her Legacy of heroism. MS. MARVEL is nowhere…but also everywhere at once! And when an old enemy re-emerges, will anyone be powerful enough to truly carry the MS. MARVEL legacy but Kamala?

Ninja-k #2: Written by Christos Gage and art by Ariel Olivetti. One by one, the operatives of MI-6’s covert “Ninja Programme” are being murdered by an unseen threat that is as mysterious as it is deadly. But who could possibly have the knowledge and expertise to eliminate the lethal men and women of Britain’s most secret service…and why are they hellbent on reaping revenge against Colin King and his predecessors? As the walls close in around him, Ninjak must confront the bloodstained legacy that spawned him, before his own name gets crossed off the list.
