3. Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok is definitely Marvel Studios’ most hilarious film yet, while also being one of its most theme-centric. Behind the beautiful cinematography and improvised jokes lay themes of imperialism and refugees, orchestrated to perfection by director Taika Waititi. Indeed, these are powerful themes, and just as powerful is the film’s impeccable cast.

Cate Blanchett stars as the ruthless Hela, goddess of death and true heir to the throne of Asgard. After Loki and Vulture, she is perhaps the best villain Marvel has yet to offer. Unfortunately, she seemingly met her end in the movie when she faced the demon Surtur. Another great part of the film is Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie. She adds a sort of nuance to Thor: Ragnarok that we’ve rarely seen in any Marvel film. And her drunken persona might just be her best attribute; after her tremendous skills as a warrior, though.

One of the reasons this film earns the number three spot on this list is because it ends Thor’s trilogy with the loudest bang. The first two Thor films are considered among the worst in the MCU, with Thor: The Dark World donned the worst of them all. So, it was refreshing to see Thor under new direction. This led to Thor: Ragnarok not only being the best Thor film, but also the best reviewed MCU film after Iron Man.

Chris Hemsworth also had a wonderful performance in the movie, once again proving that he got what it takes to be a comedic superstar.
