4. Thor: Ragnarok – Thor unleashes his full power
It’s fair to say that the God of Thunder went through quite the journey during the course of Thor: Ragnarok; from losing his hammer early in the film to battling the Hulk on Sakaar, he certainly had his fair share of troubles.
Because of the loss of Mjolnir, it seemed that Thor had lost all of his power over lightning, that was until the final battle when he had a vision of Odin. Odin revealed that Mjolnir was not the thing that gave Thor his powers, it was merely a means of controlling them. Once he realized this, the God of Thunder emphatically demonstrated to his sister just exactly what he is the god of.
3. Spider-Man: Homecoming – If this may be my destiny…
The greatest scene in Spider-Man: Homecoming is, without a doubt, this homage to one of the truly iconic Spider-Man moments in comics. While the film was heavily influenced by Brian Michael Bendis’s Ultimate Spider-Man comics, there were also some callbacks to the days when Stan Lee was writing the superhero’s adventures.
The Vulture has trapped Spidey underneath a pile of rubble and it’s clear that he’s in distress. Peter screams for help, but there’s no one around and all seems lost. He looks at his reflection in a puddle and hears Tony Stark telling him that he’s not ready to be a hero. It’s these words that spark him into life and, in a herculean effort, the young hero pulls himself out from under the rubble, mirroring the comic book perfectly.
