Avengers: Infinity War — Robert Downey Jr. teases Captain America-Iron Man conflict
By Mark Lynch
Avengers: Infinity War may feature another conflict between Captain America and Iron Man.
If you thought that the conflict between Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Tony Stark (Iron Man) was over after Captain America: Civil War, then I have some bad news for you. Robert Downey Jr. told USA Today that there would possibly be more conflict between the two Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War:
"“That’s the hardest for me, because I look at [Chris] Evans and I just to want to go over and smell him or tell him he looks cool in those sunglasses when he’s walking over to have lunch. And then I’m just staring daggers at him, getting mad. But even that relationship is going to take a turn.”"
A lot of speculation can be made by Downey Jr.’s statement. It may seem playful, but it’s doubtful that things are immediately going to be ok between Cap and Stark. Both men are notoriously stubborn and proud heroes. Even before Civil War, Cap had issues with Stark. We all remember the “Big man in a metal suit” conversation they had on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier in Marvel’s Avengers. There was also the blatant disrespect Stark’s had for Cap since day one. This wasn’t going to end just because Thanos (one of the most powerful beings in the universe) was coming to Earth to wreak havoc. That would be too easy.
Now the question is, what is it going to take for the two of them to come together? Steve is still going to side with Bucky since Bucky was brainwashed when he killed Stark’s parents. And Stark isn’t going to just accept that as a reasonable excuse. Something major is going to happen for the two of them to put their differences aside and trust one another. But they better do it quick. Kevin Feige told CBR.com:
"“Within the first five minutes of Infinity War, people will understand why Thanos is the biggest and baddest villain in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”"
