There are a couple of DCEU movies that need to be scrapped in order to make way for some other adventures.

The DCEU has decided to go in a different direction saying goodbye to the previous regime and hello to Walter Hamada. Upon his hiring one of the first reports that surfaced discussed the scrapping of two DC Comics anti-heroes solo movies, Deadshot and Lobo. Lobo was a movie long thought to be in development and it appeared things were going great just a year ago.  While Deadshot’s solo movie was likely coming solely because Will Smith was playing the role.

With the cancellation of both projects it already appears that Hamada has taken his first step toward saving the DCEU. Some may argue that Lobo and Deadshot would have made great movies, especially the former who could have been DCUE’s answer to Deadpool. However, they didn’t need a solo movie, and they aren’t the only ones. There are some other DCEU movies in development that need to be scrapped in order to make room for others.

3. Cancel Batgirl for Birds of Prey

When Joss Wheadon left the MCU to join the DCEU one of the first movies that were said to be in development was a Batgirl solo movie. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/joss-whedon-batgirl-exploring-damage-behind-his-next-superhero-995812 The idea behind a Batgirl film makes sense from the standpoint of giving DCEU  another female hero but there’s nothing beyond that. Barbara Gordon’s life before Batman only makes sense if casual fans know who she is, so why make a Batgirl movie? I understand Wheadon wanting to explore her life before she dawned the cape especially considering she doesn’t share the same tragic backstory as some of Batman’s other sidekicks. Even then, it’s still not the best part of the character’s life.

Batgirl’s most memorable story involves her being shot by The Joker which left her paralyzed and forced to find a new way to become a hero. No longer able to be Batgirl Barbara Gordon becomes the woman behind the seat and forms her own team of heroes, Birds of Prey. So, instead of making a Batgirl solo movie, Hamada should green light a Birds of Prey film. In fact, there was a rumor that suggested Birds of Prey was in development but the buzz surrounding the film has since died down. Having a DCEU film about the origins of Birds of Prey will also introduce two additional heroes to fans with Black Canary and Huntress further expanded DC’s Extended Universe.
