3. Oliver and William form a bond

After the traumatic events of the Season 5 finale, William wasn’t exactly in a good state of mind. His mother was killed, he watched an entire island blow up and a man killed himself right in front of him. He was now scared of the Green Arrow, who he quickly discovered was actually his biological father. Oliver moves William in with him and at first, William ignores all of his father’s attempts to win him over and be a better father.

Eventually, Oliver started making William a priority and acting like a better father. As a result, William started warming up to Oliver and they began to form a true father-son bond. One of the biggest changes he took was passing on the Green Arrow mantle to Diggle, which William was very pleased with. The scenes featuring Oliver and William, specifically when Oliver revealed that he was giving up the mantle, have been some of the best scenes of the entire season. The two actors play off each other tremendously and as a viewer, you truly feel the bond between the characters and sympathize for Oliver.
