Flashpoint: 5 biggest challenges for the directors
By Matt Moore
1. Directing the action sequences
As comedy writers, the humor may come naturally to Daley and Goldstein. But similar to the special effects challenge, directing the action of Flashpoint could be difficult. Yes, there were stunts and action in Vacation and the duo’s upcoming comedy Game Night. This won’t compare to directing Speed Force sequences with the Flash and Reverse Flash or fights with Wonder Woman and Cyborg.
To meet this challenge, the directors will have to bring in experienced stunt teams and fight choreographers. Such talent already exists in the DCEU. Wonder Woman won the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Stunt Ensemble. The fight scenes in Zack Snyder films have always been praised and the team behind them may be available as long as Snyder is still in the DCEU.

Daley and Goldstein won’t have to look too far into the past for proof they can meet this challenge. Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi’s background was in comedy and that film has become one of the most successful in the MCU. Waititi brought his sense of humor while still directing giant action sequences featuring heroes like Thor, Valkyrie and the Hulk. Flashpoint will need Daley and Goldstein to pull off a similar stunt.
