3. Chronicle

From the twisted mind of screenwriter/director Max Landis, comes a superhero film unlike any you’ve ever seen. Chronicle, was a breakout success when it hit theaters and had everybody talking. It launched the careers of Dane Dehaan and Michael B. Jordan, who will be playing the villain in the new Black Panther film. The director of this movie is Josh Trank, who you may know more about being apart of the disaster known as 2015 Fantastic Four reboot. But have no fear, this movie is exceptionally well-directed. This movie came out the same year as the first Avengers movie (way before Infinity War was even rumored) and was just as good and action packed in quality.

It tells the story of three high schoolers who stumble across a mysterious cave and discover a mysterious object that gives them telekinesis superpowers. We get to see the kids use their new abilities in unique and ways.  The story is very grounded and made the characters seem like they could be in our world. Instead of becoming responsible and helping people, they decide to be reckless, scare civilians and do whatever they want because they can. It isn’t long until one of those kids becomes mad with power and starts to take revenge on bullies and those that cross him. The movie is also known as a found footage film, meaning the characters are recording themselves the whole time, which leads to some exciting and breathtaking sequences.
