5. Smaller characters getting bigger roles
One thing that was great about Deadpool was the fact that it gave a more detailed look at some more minor Marvel characters. While they may be important to Deadpool’s overall story, they don’t have a bigger part in the overall Marvel Universe.
Luckily, with a major movie, it allowed characters like Blind Al, Weasel and even the taxi driver Dopinder to have more fleshed out roles in the first movie. And while there are some more major characters debuting in the sequel, it’s possible we will get just as much, maybe more of these smaller characters.
It makes sense for Weasel, Blind Al and even Negasonic Teenage Warhead to have bigger roles, as they have history with Deadpool in the comics. However for a character like Dopinder to have a more fleshed role would be a delightful sight.
For someone who originally was supposed to be a joke in the first movie, he shows up quite often in the sequel’s trailers. Unless this is supposed to be a part of the joke, it looks like Dopinder will be a more relevant character. They are not going to make him as major a character as Cable. But he will serve his purpose as the butt of the joke again.
Now, it’s possible that not everyone will get a more fleshed role in the movie. It is entirely possible that people like Blind Al and Weasel will only be there as Wade’s roommates. But, with what we’ve seen from the trailer so far, it would make sense that their roles will be more beefed up.
Regardless of who has a bigger role, it’ll certainly be fun to see these side characters make their return.
