3. Loki and The Liberators

It’s one thing to fight a villain you can physically beat down. It’s another to fight one you didn’t even know existed. Loki, Black Widow, and a team of foreign leaders masterminded a plan that took out every hero in the United States and liberate the country.

First, Lokie manipulated the Ultimates into no longer trusting Thor. Making Thor look like a nurse who had a nervous breakdown and stole equipment that gave him powers. Later, the Ultimates, (with the help of other foreign super soldiers) fought and imprisoned Thor. Then, Black Widow leaked to the media that Bruce Banner was the Hulk and he was the cause of attack and killed hundreds of people in New York. That meant that The Ultimates two strongest were off the chess board. The biggest step was when Hawkeye’s family was killed. Loki made it look like Captain America killed them and was working for the enemy this whole time. With no one left to defend the country, Loki and his Liberators swept in captured the X-Men, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four and took over.

The Liberators rule may have been short lived, but systematically taking out the Ultimates and the government was impressive. Black Widow infiltrating the Ultimates and dating Tony Stark to gain his trust (although, she never fully gained it) was genius. If not for Thor never giving up hope and praying to Odin to help them, the Ultimates would have lost.
