With Valentine’s Day 2018 here, let’s look at some of the best romantic relationships from Marvel Comics.
Comic books have always had romance featured in their stories. So much so that they have become important to further story-lines and characters. Marvel Comics have been doing it for years. Examples of this can be seen in Netflix’s Daredevil and also in comic book stories with couples like Cyclops and Jean and Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. With Valentine’s Day coming up, here are ten of the best and very different relationships in the Marvel Universe.
10. Deadpool and Shiklah
My favorite part of the Deadpool and Shiklah relationship is that she was supposed to get married to Dracula. Dracula sent Deadpool to retrieve her from her sarcophagus, but they grew to love each other. Despite their feelings for each other, Deadpool was going to honor his deal with Dracula. But because Dracula a jerk and was using Shiklah to gain power over the underworld (and it didn’t help that Dracula killed Shiklah’s brothers), Shicklah needed a way to make sure this never happened. So Deadpool came up with the genius plan for them to get married. Deadpool fought for her honor and beat Dracula. The Deadpool and Shiklah relationship didn’t last long, but it was Deadpool’s best one and it was very entertaining.
9. Shatterstar and Rictor
When Shatterstar reappeared in the Marvel Universe, he was being mind controlled. Once he regained control, Shatterstar immediately kissed Rictor. Apparently, the two have been intimate for a while. During X-Factor, Rictor and Shatterstar’s relationship was deep. Shatterstar is from Mojo-Verse where he was bred to be a warrior. Because of this, Shatterstar was overwhelmed by feelings. Since he only knew violence, things like monogamy were new to him. It annoyed Rictor that Shatterstar couldn’t contain himself and would randomly flirt with people (men and women). After Shatterstar explained what Rictor meant to him and how much he needed him, Rictor continued to be with Shatterstar and help him adjust to the world as a couple.
