Chris McKay took to Twitter to ask fans what qualities they thought were most important for Nightwing. Fans answered, and we’ll have to wait and see if Mckay takes their advice. Although he didn’t ask for which actors should play the role we have a few suggestions.

The curious case of Ben Affleck and his involvement in the DCEU may be a mystery, but that hasn’t stopped the development of his former protégée, Nightwing. The announcement LEGO Batman director Chris McKay came back in February of 2017 and met with mostly positive reactions. Fast forward a year later and we have another worthy update. Mckay has asked fans for their minute input about which quality they consider most important when casting Nightwing.

The list was made up of very short criteria which includes; being a bad ass martial artist, Romanian, vulnerable and emotional, or a recognizable movie star. The overwhelming favorite with 48% was the “bad ass martial artist.” While Mckay is likely to make the decision based on what he feels is best, it was refreshing to see a director actually involve the fans. Now that he has the fans vote on which quality is most important for Nightwing — here are sis actors that fit Mckay’s vision perfectly.

5. Leo Howard – Freakish

If fans want an absolutely badass martial artist they need not look any further than Leo Howard. The 20-year-old Disney star is pretty much an unknown. Unless you’ve followed his Disney career where he stared in shows like Shake it Up and Kickin’ It there’s a chance you aren’t very familiar with Howard’s work. Nevertheless, his Disney background doesn’t take away his sheer badassness. In fact, on the set of Kickin’ It, Howard would work with the cast as a fight scene choreographer, but that’s not where it started, Howard is more than just some Disney kid.

In 2009, Howard played Young Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe in an action-packed scene that saw his martial arts skills on full display. In 2011 he played young Conan before he went on to join Disney. In 2015’s sci-fi action flick, Andron Howard played Alexander one of the people forced to fight for survival inside a deadly simulator.  Today, Howard is the star of the Hulu series, Freakish where he once again proves that he’s primed and ready for a comic book movie role. Though he’s the youngest actor on the list, he’ll make a believable Dick Grayson who is still trying to find his way in Bludhaven as a young police recruit and late-night crime fighter.
