4. The LEGO Batman Movie

Sure, it’s a LEGO movie but it has Batman! Therefore, we will count it in our comic book movies. Only two spots above Doctor Strange in the total list. Quite impressive, given Doctor Strange has been on the market longer and has the Disney juggernaut behind it. Sure, selling close to two million copies and bringing over $50 million to WB’s pocket looks good on paper. It fails in comparison to The LEGO Movie. That film managed to make this amount in a little less than three weeks. On top of that LEGO Batman did not enter the #1 spot at all. The LEGO Batman Movie has great reviews, with a modestly good box office run. Part of the problem stems from the fact it is a spin-off of a predecessor film no one saw coming nor thought be would what it is. Hence, a spin-off that caters mainly to a Batman crowd can feel like a cash grab for some audiences.

Plus, is it safe say to audiences are growing tired of Batman? We have Black Panther now, Ant-Man now! Groups like Suicide Squad and Guardians of The Galaxy, no names to most, raking in new fans.

It cannot be all doom and gloom. It made the top ten best selling DVD list and managed to get a huge boost during Black Friday Weekend, shooting back at to the number four spot after nearly four months of being in release.

DVD sales – 833,838 total units/$16,465,169 total spending. #10 Best Seller
Blu-ray sales – 1,065,721 total units/$33,574,704 total spending. #15 Best Seller
