With the Joker set to receive an origin movie, which comic book characters deserve one of their own?

The Joker is one of comic book’s most diabolical and mysterious villains. The story behind how a broke comedian became the Joker was told in Batman: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore. Now, the origin story of The Clown Prince of Crime will be getting his own origin story in theaters. Origin stories can be a gift and a curse.

Sometimes, the mystery of a character is what makes them great (I think a Joker Origin movie is a mistake). For some characters, it can make a story better. In The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker by Garth Ennis, Ennis told the story of why Butcher hated anyone with superpowers. This story made Butcher’s character easier to sympathize with. In Wolverine: Origin by Bill Jemas, we find out about Wolverine’s past and connected the dots to why he does a plethora of things he does. Even why he calls people bub. Which other comic book characters could have successful origin stories?

6. Sabretooth

Victor Creed desperately needs a reboot. Liev Schreiber’s version of Sabretooth was phenomenal but X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been scrubbed from the record via time travel in X-Men: Days of the Future Past. Since that Sabretooth no longer exists, how about we completely restart his legacy.

First, let’s skip the Victor Creed being Wolverine’s brother angle. Sabretooth is the product of abuse. He was locked in a basement and had meat thrown at him. When he got out, he was too far gone to regain his humanity. As Creed grew up he became more ruthless as time went on. He was a rapist, sadist, and murderer. His origin story wouldn’t be about Creed becoming a hero. It would about him being just despicable. With everyone loving villains, let’s bring out one of the vilest villains ever created in comic books. Everyone loves the Joker. Well, wait until they get a load of Victor Creed.
