3. X-23

X-23 (Laura) was a hit in 2017’s Logan. She may have even stolen the show and she barely spoke. Laura (Dafne Keen) was an unassuming girl who went from cute to dangerous in less than a minute. Laura mirrored her comic book counterpart in ferocity. Beyond the violence, Laura in the comic book has an upbringing that is worth a movie.

Laura’s story was tragic. She was born in a lab and then bred to be a killer from birth. Luckily, her mother (who was a scientist at the facility) would read her Laura Pinocchio in secret hoping to balance the violence with happiness. No matter how much she tried, X-23 was created and raised to be a weapon. A gun they could point at a target. There was even a scent created that would trigger her animal rage making her almost impossible to stop.

Before Laura was a teenager, she had killed political leaders, mob bosses, and so many others. Maybe the saddest part of her story is when she killed the first two people to care about her. Her sensei and her mother. There is no way that the story of X-23 doesn’t excite people for the action, but also bring out tears.
